Community Support Network (Shared Living)

People share a home with someone who is contracted to provide ongoing support.

A man dressed in a blue costume with gold trim, wearing a large red hat, smiling at a social gathering indoors with other people in the background.
A man and woman sitting on a couch, smiling and hugging each other in a cozy room with a bookshelf, wall art, and a television in the background.
Older man sitting in a black armchair, smiling, holding a red cup. Birthday decorations include balloons, a red balloon with "GARY" written on it, and colorful banners hanging from the ceiling. A window with blinds is on the right.

Overview

The Community Support Network (CSN) Home Share Program provides an opportunity for the people we support to live with a family, couple, or roommate in a home and environment of their choice.

The Community Support Network Program creates a natural home environment where people in need of support can access assistance and guidance to enrich their lives and the life of the home share provider.

We work closely with the people we support and their support network. We use a person-centred approach to find home share providers that match the individual’s personality, support needs, lifestyle, and interests.

Home share providers are under contract with UNITI to provide full-time support to the person in their home. All home share providers undergo a rigorous screening process, including a Criminal Record Check and an in-depth home study that explores family dynamics, lifestyle, personal support network, and conflict management, among other things.
