Day 2: Lauren’s Fight
Lauren’s Dream Is Becoming Reality: And She Wants You to Rise With Her
For years, Lauren has dreamed of having her own home; a safe, welcoming space where she can live independently and truly belong. But like many young adults with disabilities, that dream has often felt out of reach. Our housing market just wasn’t built for everyone… until now.
Lauren never gave up. She became a voice for change—helping shape Surrey’s Housing Needs Report, speaking at public hearings, and rallying support for Harmony. Her advocacy promised hope for hundreds of people just like her.
And now, because of Lauren’s determination and thousands of community members who stood with her, Harmony is becoming a reality.
Lauren’s win is a win for all of us. Harmony will be a place where seniors, students, frontline workers, and people with disabilities live side by side, in true community. A place where belonging is the norm, not a privilege.
Lauren says it best: “When we help each other out, we help each other up.” Her hard work is paying off, but our journey isn’t over. We still need your help to finish Harmony and open its doors.
This holiday season, let’s rise together. Let’s make sure Lauren—and hundreds of others—can finally call Harmony home.
